Today was the official adoption day. Wow...talk about running around. We went to three different Government Offices. First appointment was for the official adoption. We had our family photo taken and had an interview. Second visit was at the Notarization Office again had another brief interview. Then our final appointment was for her China Passport. All the babies were amazing. It was another hot day. Although the buildings are air conditioned they are still
stinkin' hot! This ran from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Then we made a stop at
Walmart for everyone to get some necessities. Mary Anne was a trooper!!!!
She enjoys all kinds of food...so far we have tried baby carrots, apple sauce, bread, cheerios, egg,
congee and french fries. :) We are having difficulties getting her to take her bottle. She has had a maybe 4 oz once. I don't think she likes the formula we brought from Canada. We have tried making the nipple bigger, added sugar, made the bottle at different temperatures and concentrations. To those who have travelled to China...any ideas? We am not to concerned as she is eating solids and has had water but I would love her to take a bottle.
here are some photos from the day.....

Maƫlle was the same, just wanted to eat solid food and congee. I guess they gt used to solid food early in China.
Were you able to get some formula from the orphanage? Did they leave you some? If not ask Yulin if she can get the name and go buy some. For what I remember their formula are very different than ours so we did a slow transition (I think on 3 weeks). It worked for us but also we had to have the bottle very hot. She liked it better like that.
Mary Anne is just pure pleasure to watch and you are a beautiful happy Mommy.
Thanks for sharing.
Oh Christine and Iain, I am loving the photos and videos. It couldn't be a more perfect beginning. You are blessed and she is beyond anyones wildest dreams. Almost speechless at the miracles that still happen every day, but this one brings tears to my eyes. Wonderful!!!!
We were given formula the orphanage gave them. Asia transitioned within a week in China from the orphanage formula to the one we brought with us.
Asia didn't like the nipples (two kinds - Playtex silicon) that we brought. Another family gave us a nipple (Playtex rubber fast flow) that she liked; we made the hole a bit larger.
However, we couldn't find another one at Walmart so had to work with only one nipple until we got home!
We bought a chinese baby bottle that came with a nipple that she was okay with but I don't know if that bottle is 'safe' in Canada.
The nipples were the same shape (straight, not curved) but made of different material.
Asia also ate bits of food and was fine with her bottle after we changed the nipple.
Good luck!

She's adorable!
No advice on the formula issue. I'd be hesitant to use anything from China right now.
Good luck and enjoy your little bundle.
